Tips For Taking Care Of Your Skin While Traveling

Facial

You don’t need to take your entire vanity on the road when you travel. The goal is a travel friendly version of your skincare routine that maintains and supports your skin’s health that you’ve worked hard to achieve.

Wherever you’re traveling there is always a shift in climate, cabin air, new foods, different water, and even a change in your sleep pattern that can throw your skin into confusion. And while it’s tempting to go off your routine, staying consistent with your skincare routine matters.

What to pack:

  • Cleanser: You want a cleanser that travels well, softens hard water, is gentle, yet deep cleansing. You also want one that is not over-drying, yet unclogs pores.
  • Exfoliation: Keep it gentle. Dead skin and buildup from sunscreen, makeup, and environmental pollutants dull your skin’s glow. Exfoliating twice weekly refreshes your skin without overdoing it.
  • Masque: A good masque tightens pores, refines skin texture and calms irritations.
  • Hydration: This is non-negotiable. Between airplane air and shifting humidity levels, skin can quickly become dry and parched. A calming cream is a daily go-to, You want one that is hydrating and wears well under makeup and sunscreen. One that feels good on the skin and adds protection from pollutants.

What to leave at home:

Some of the products that don’t travel well, or are not essential for a short trip are strong retinoids and harsh exfoliants. They make skin more sensitive to the sun and can cause damage to your complexion. They can wait until you return home.

Think about your travel routine as a “capsule wardrobe” for your skin, essentials only, but ones that keep your skin polished, hydrated and confident.

After years of my clients asking me how they wish they could pack just one small kit to travel with I created the Facial in a Bag. This kit has everything you need for traveling or a home facial. A cleanser, exfoliant, masque, moisturizer, cucumber toner, sponge and a TSA approved clear zippered travel bag. All in 2 ounce containers to pass through airport security. I’m thrilled to share that my Facial in a Bag travel kit is now available on Amazon. Everything you need, beautifully curated and ready to go wherever you go.
